O programa High School tem como objetivo oferecer ao aluno a oportunidade de cursar o ensino médio americano sem sair do Brasil. Esse programa é uma parceria com a University of Missouri, nos Estados Unidos.
O Colégio Damas, em 2011, foi a primeira instituição a oferecer o High School em Pernambuco. No programa, são desenvolvidas habilidades avançadas de escrita, leitura e fala. Com professores de língua nativa inglesa, os estudantes a partir do 9º ano do Fundamental aprendem em um ambiente de imersão.
As disciplinas do currículo brasileiro das escolas conveniadas são reconhecidas e certificadas para o currículo americano, compondo o número de créditos necessários à graduação oficial de High School junto aos órgãos reguladores americanos.
Neste programa, os alunos desenvolvem as habilidades avançadas de escrita, leitura e fala, com ênfase em argumentação. O Modelo Instrucional 5Es utilizado (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate e Evaluate — engajar, explorar, explicar, elaborar e avaliar) promove um tipo de aprendizado sequencial e objetivo, com ênfase no desenvolvimento do pensamento crítico, consciência global e mentalidade de aprendizagem contínua.
Os cursos incluem Composição e Literatura, História Americana e Mundial, Governo, Saúde, Discurso, Debate, Economia, Marketing, Planejamento de Carreira e Capstone (projeto de término de curso).
A sólida formação no currículo internacional oficial permitirá ao aluno trânsito em situações acadêmicas e profissionais avançadas. Congressos, rodadas de negociação, cursos de especialização, mestrado e doutorado, bem como oportunidades profissionais em empresas multinacionais localizadas no Brasil ou fora dele, presencial ou remotamente.

Alfred tutors on the High School DAMAS courses. He was born in South Florida and attended Florida State University and Florida International University, receiving his degree in History in 2002. After college, he worked as a Spanish interpreter for a California-based translation agency. In 2005, he began teaching English as a Second Language, and later spent five years at a major language school chain in the US as a teacher, coordinator, and curriculum writer. He first came to Brazil in 2013 to teach English to engineers in Macaé-RJ and relocated to Recife in 2015. He has since completed a second degree in Economics, and is a big fan of US college basketball.
Ana tutors on the High School Damas courses. She was born in Recife and attended Elementary, Middle and High School in Atlanta, Georgia. At Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, she received two degrees in Modern Languages (English and Portuguese) and also got her Master’s Degree and a PhD. Ana has been teaching English as a Foreign/Second Language for over 20 years. She loves singing, dancing, playing (and watching people play) sports and spending time with her family and friends.
Michael tutors on the High School Damas courses. He was born in the North East of England and attended the University of Sheffield where he graduated in Geography in 1989. In the mid-1990s he spent almost four years in southern Colombia, in the Amazon region, working with a congregation of Italian priests on social and economic development projects. He returned to the UK in 1997 and spent a number of years working in local government, managing programs
to improve the quality of life for people in some of the most deprived areas of the country. He first visited Brazil in 2002 and moved to Recife in 2005, where he has lived ever since. Until 2020 he worked at the Federation of Industry for the State of Pernambuco, managing programs mostly related to education. Since 2020 he has been working as an English teacher, translator and a content producer for companies based in Brazil. He enjoys traveling, keeping fit and spending time with his family.
Hugo has been working at Colégio Damas for 19 years. He has a degree in Philosophy and a postgraduate degree in Educational Management from the Catholic University of Pernambuco. He has served as Pedagogical Coordinator, and for the last 10 years he has also worked as High School Disciplinary Coordinator. Hugo’s main goal is to contribute to the education of the youth so they can make a difference in society. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, cycling, fishing and going to the cinema.
Ana coordinates the High School Damas programme. She was born and bred in Recife, where she has worked as a teacher and academic coordinator in several language schools since 1983. She holds a degree in Letras and a master’s degree in Cognitive Psychology, both from Federal University of Pernambuco. She also holds a master’s degree in International Education Management from Leeds University, in the UK. Ana’s life motto: Love your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and with all your strength, and love your neighbour as yourself. Jesus in Mark 12,30-31
